Junk Food: a term applied to foods which have little or no nutritional value, or to products which may contain nutrition, but which also contain ingredients considered unhealthy to consume.
The ingredients list given for these types of products contain many different chemicals. Some are safe, and some are not safe at all. And none of these chemicals have been tested in mixtures. They may be even more toxic when combined.Hanna Rosin argues that increasing taxes on junk foods may encourage people to purchase healthy fruits and vegetables instead of high-fat , sugary snacks . According to Rosin , researchers have conducted experiments that tested whether people would choose low-priced healthy foods over regular-priced junk foods in vending machines and in high schools . In each experiment , she contends , sales of low-calorie snacks , fruits , and vegetables increased , and sales of unhealthy foods decreased .
